Introducing the second edition in the UR-230 series, the UR-230 Polaris presents a striking shift in color and materials, embracing a fiberglass-enhanced ceramic composition. Which is different than URWERK's normal traditional black, gray, and muted textures. The UR-230 Polaris is crafted from a layered, ceramic-based composite, featuring a polymer base interwoven with sheets of woven ceramic and fiberglass plies. Originally utilized in aerospace and medical industries, this high-performance material is now revolutionizing watchmaking by combining the strengths of each component. The result is a robust timepiece that withstands strong impacts without breaking. Encased in a white resin that houses light silver fiberglass, the UR-230 Polaris reveals its intricate layers through its machined, complex shape. These layers create a visual effect similar to carbon fiber, shifting from a matte finish to a subtle glow, offering dynamic interactions with light depending on the angle and curve.
Watch Functions and More
The watch features a three-armed carousel with rotating blocks, each displaying four-hour numerals. These blocks travel along a 120-degree arc, with the current hour highlighted towards the viewer. Minutes are displayed on an aluminum 3D retrograde hand that mirrors the case and strap’s white hue. After completing its 60-minute cycle, the hand resets to index 0, ready to indicate the next hour. URWERK has developed an innovative shock absorption system for the UR-7.30 caliber, for the UR-230; using turbines to protect the mechanism. One turbine set absorbs external shocks, enhancing the watch’s durability. Another set manages airflow to control the winding system’s power based on the wearer’s activity. An adjustable "air brake" knob on the back regulates this function, while a secondary switch allows the rotor to disengage for manual winding. Two indicators at 11 and 1 o'clock show the adjustment settings for these features. Learn more in our showroom and try on the UR-230 Polaris to experience its unique features firsthand. The UR-230 Polaris features a white ceramic case paired with a black DLC titanium case back, secured with a vulcanized rubber strap. This combination not only enhances the watch’s durability but also contributes to its distinctive, bold appearance.
